Our Materials

Jewelry Materials Archive
Beneath the earth’s surface, each stone forms through pressure, time, and elemental transformation—developing structure, depth, and natural character. At MPENZII, these materials are approached as foundations of form. Each stone is selected for its internal rhythm, surface architecture, and interaction with light, then integrated through measured hand assembly to achieve balance in weight, proportion, and movement. Malachite reveals layered green banding shaped by natural growth. Hematite introduces density and metallic clarity. Tiger eye reflects warm brown-gold striations that shift with light, while white turquoise (howlite) offers a pale, veined stillness. Onyx provides depth and restraint, carnelian a subdued amber warmth, and goldstone a controlled, fine shimmer. From raw formation to refined surface, each material is preserved for its individuality while composed into a cohesive structure. The process is guided by precision—framing, not altering, the natural character of the stone. What remains is not ornament, but composition—where material, light, and form exist in quiet alignment.
Bags Materials Archive
Across generations, material is shaped not only by the earth, but by culture, gesture, and repetition. The MPENZII bag archive centers on textile and structure, where woven surfaces, natural fibres, and leather are brought together through disciplined construction. Each material carries visible history, defined by pattern, tension, and the hand that formed it.
Kuba textile forms the core of this language. Handwoven from raffia and built through geometric systems, it reflects precision and symbolic design. Its surface remains intentionally irregular—holding depth, variation, and a tactile authenticity beyond industrial repetition. Raffia contributes lightness and organic structure, while leather reinforces edges and load-bearing points, introducing durability and a controlled finish. Each piece is assembled with measured alignment and calibrated tension, allowing the structure to hold form while preserving the character of its materials. From raw fibre to finished form, the process maintains material integrity and cultural continuity—where pattern, structure, and function exist in quiet balance.

Beauty Materials Archive
Within plant structures and resinous forms, materials evolve through extraction and transformation.
The MPENZII beauty archive is grounded in disciplined botanical formulation, where oils, butters, and plant-derived actives are selected for stability, structural integrity, and their interaction with the skin. Cold-pressed oils preserve their native lipid structure, while botanical infusions are developed through controlled maceration to maintain material continuity.
Resins and extracts are integrated in measured proportions to support texture, absorption, and long-term stability. Butters and waxes provide structure, shaping consistency while maintaining a breathable finish. Aromatic profiles are derived exclusively from essential oils and plant distillations, with no synthetic fragrance systems introduced.
Each formulation is built through controlled layering—defined by precision, restraint, and material clarity.
